If you're serious about getting rid of acne, this is a vitamin you must take. Ever since the summer of 2000 people have been posting frequently on the acne message boards of the successes using this vitamin. I have read literally thousands of testimonials from people who said that pantothenic acid has worked miracles for them. Many people have been using prescription drugs for years that have failed to work and then tried B5 and had their acne significantly reduced. I've read many postings from people who've said it's worked better than Accutane. This natural therapy for acne is spreading like wildfire around the Internet, it's the thing most people are trying. From my estimation, it works for over 90% of people, which tops Accutane, which works for 70% to 80% of people. And Accutane is very expensive and can have many bad side effects, so much so that you must have regular blood tests to make sure your liver isn't being damaged. Pantothenic acid is safe even in the large doses needed for it to work against acne. Pantothenic acid is found in small amounts in most foods. The best sources are fish, beef, whole-wheat flour, royal jelly, eggs, liver, yeast, mushrooms, peanuts, cashews, broccoli, soybeans, avocodoes, and whole-grain cereals. But the amount of B5 in food is so small that even if you ate them all day you wouldn't get enough to help against acne. You need to take pantothenic acid supplements. From my research on vitamin information sites, there has never been any toxicities reported in using high amounts of vitamin B5. It's a water soluble vitamin, which means excess amounts are flushed out of the body (in urine).

Basically the cause of acne is a defect or deficiency in a person's metabolism of lipids (fats) which occurs due to a lack of coenzyme-A in the body. Coenzyme-A is made of ATP (energy), cysteine, and pantothenic acid. Of these 3, pantothenic acid is the only one which is a vitamin and must be supplied through the diet. The other 2 are produced by the body. So if you supplement with pantothenic acid you create more Coenzyme-A in your body and your fats get metabolized. A lack of Coenzyme-A in the body means that fats don't get broken down. Instead, they get deposited in your sebaceous (oil) glands and get secreted as sebum (oil). Oil is a fat in liquid form. You get acne because the acne bacteria (Propionibacterium acne) in your pores feeds on this excess oil. But if you had no oil or very little oil in your pores, you would have no acne or very little acne. Taking large doses of pantothenic acid shuts down your oil production, drying up your pores, and reducing your acne. Accutane also shuts down oil production, but does it by actually shrinking your oil glands. Pantothenic acid doesn't shrink your oil glands, but creates enough coenyme-A so that fats don't get deposited in your oil glands in the first place. This theory explains why acne starts around puberty. At puberty, most coenzyme-A gets used to make the sex hormones. Since formation of the sex hormones and reproductive organs of the body is the more important reaction, fat metabolism gets put on hold, oil production increases which causes acne to develop. But if you supplement with enough pantothenic acid, you will create enough coenzyme-A in the body and both sex hormone synthesis and fatty acid metabolism will be taken care of. This theory also explains why acne tends to subside after puberty when a person is in his/her 20s. When the sexual characteristics are fully developed, there is much more coenzyme-A available for lipid metabolism. The study also says that stress, a woman's cycle, and lack of sleep lower the levels of pantothenic acid available for lipid metabolism. The other major benefit from taking large amounts of vitamin B5 is that the pores on your skin actually shrink in size and become visibly smaller. The skin becomes very fine and smooth looking. Once pantothenic acid therapy has worked, a maintenance dose is usually needed to keep the acne away. This is a lower dose in the range of 1 to 5 grams a day.

I had very bad moderate acne on my face. I started off with a lower dose of 5 grams a day. After a few weeks it didn't help me, so I increased it to the recommended 10 grams a day. I took the vitamin in 4 divided doses of 2.5 grams, just as described in the study. After just a day or two, my acne started to quickly subside. And after a few weeks, my oil production really decreased. Normally I had really oily skin. My forehead was the oilest part of my face, as it would be oily in 1 or 2 hours after washing it. But on 10 grams of B5 a day, it took all day for my forehead to get oily and face would have hardly no oil on it by the day's end. And best of all my skin pores were getting smaller and smaller. This is an amazing thing to witness. You wouldn't think a simple vitamin could actually shrink your pores, but it works. My skin now appears very smooth and "tight". I kept taking 10 grams a day for 2 months as recommended for people with moderate acne. Then I lowered it to 5 grams a day for about a month. Now I take 3 to 3.5 grams a day. This lower amount works as a maintenance dose. Although my skin has a little more oil, the breakouts are still kept to a minimum. If I stop taking it altogether, the acne does come back. If I eat a lot of oily, fatty foods I get a little more acne, so I do have to watch my diet. The one side effect from taking large doses of pantothenic acid is gas and diarreha. To minimize this, take the vitamin with food as well as water. It's a good idea anyways to take most supplements with food, even the water soluble ones. When you eat food, the digestive enzymes and gastric juices in the stomach will help to break the supplement down better, so it can be absorbed in the water (in the case of B5).

You may have a hard time trying to find vitamin B5 in stores. It's not commonly sold as a separate supplement. You'll see a lot of B1, B2, B6, and B12. Don't look for B5 on the bottle. Usually it's sold under the name pantothenic acid. The vitamin is white and sold in capsule form, tablet form, and even as a powder you can mix into water or put on food. The GNC and Wal-Mart and most retail stores in my city don't sell pantothenic acid. The ingredient label on bottles of pantothenic acid will say d-calcium pantothenate or calcium pantothenate.

The most common amount in a B5 capsule or tablet is 500 mg. So to take 10 grams a day, that would be 20 of these capsules/tablets a day. Now that does seem like a lot, and I spread it out as 5 pills 4 times a day. It's best to spread out your amount no matter how much you take. This way your body gets a more continuous supply of pantothenic acid. If you want to take less pills, there are companies that sell B5 in 1,000 mg pills. I believe the brands Country Life, Kaz, and Nature's Plus do this. Another popular brand of B5 that people take is NOW. So you'll have to spend money for a few months to take these large doses of B5. But it's definitely worth it if it works. Compared to all the money you may have spent on prescription drugs that don't work, pantothenic acid is safe and has a very high success rate. If you can't find B5 in any stores buy bulk from Nutraplaned and cap them.

Many people usually start out with lower amounts of B5 hoping it will work so they don't have to take so many pills a day and spend as much. Some of these people report having an initial breakout before the acne starts to fade away. This is because they're not taking enough. Everyone's exact need for B5 is different. If you want to start at a lower amount I would recommend about 5 grams a day. If it doesn't work at first, don't give up, but gradually increase the amount you take, maybe by a gram a week. Keep increasing until you find the amount that works. Then stay on that amount for 2 months. If you have severe acne you may want to stay on that amount for 6 months. If it's going to work for you, and it likely will, 10 grams a day will probably be enough for most people. Then you can lower it to the range of 1 to 5 grams a day. The most important thing I can stress is that since you've never tried this before, you're going to need a lot of B5 in the beginning. Depending on how long you've had acne, your body may have a severe deficiency in pantothenic acid for lipid metabolism. If you don't get results with lower amounts of B5 don't stop. You may miss out on getting great results with higher amounts, like I did at 10 grams a day. Generally speaking, the more severe your acne is the more B5 you will need. Either way, you have to experiment to find the right amount for treatment and maintenance. Good luck!

For all you people who want to rid yourselves of acne once and for all, start taking 10 grams of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) a day. It has scientific studies in medical journals that back it up. Read the 6 page study at www.pantothenic-acid.com. It's in their research article page, and it's called using pantothenic acid to treat acne vulgaris. A short summary of the study is on the www.gnc.com website, look under acne in the list of health conditions. For people with moderate acne, near complete relief is seen in 8 weeks, while people with severe acne took at least 6 months. This vitamin has no known toxicities and cannot harm you, even though these daily amounts are large, it is completely safe. Vitamin b5 works by shutting down your oil glands gradually, much like Accutane. But unlike Accutane, you don't go through a bad breakout period. This study reveals, as most of you realize that diet is a major contributor to acne, unlike what the medical establishment has been telling you. I also subscribe to Prevention magazine, and they say that diet can affect acne. They say to avoid the dairy products and bread, since iodine is added to these products. Isn't it funny how most dermatologists say what you you eat has nothing to do with acne, even though it been clinically proven that iodine aggravates acne. Most products that dermatologists prescribe work by killing the acne bacteria on your face. But everyone, even all the people who don't have acne, have that same bacteria all over their faces. They're not treating the real underlying cause of acne, which is a dietary deficiency of pantothenic acid. About 3 weeks ago I wrote a very long post explaining in detail how pantothenic acid is used in the body to build a coenzyme that breaks down lipids in your oil glands. When these fats are not broken down in your oil glands, they stimulate the glands to produce more oil, and the extra oil is the main "food" that the bacteria uses to erupt into acne. For some reason that post was removed by the modeator, although nothing I said was untrue. I cannot urge you people enough to read that article I mentioned earlier. A few parts of it you may not understand, but most of it you will, and you'll finally understand the true cause of acne.I'm not promoting any product that website offers, I myself just take regular pantothenic acid. That study also tells how the vitamins niacinamide(a form of niacin) and biotin(a very safe B vitamin) also enhance the effect of clearing acne when taken with pantothenic acid. Pantothenic acid worked for all 100 people in that study, as it has for me. The study also reveals how lack of sleep, excess intake of oily foods, and premenstrual flare do use up pantothenic acid in the body, which is why you need to keep taking it in supplemental form. You have to shop around the internet for various vitamin catalogs as pantothenic acid is not that common in stores, although the supermarket where I live sells it in bottles of 100 tablets, 500 mg each. It's my sincere opinion that if everyone took pantothenic acid on a daily basis, we could put dermatologists out of business when it comes to treating acne. It really is true that this simple B vitamin is the answer to this frustrating problem.

FriedriCh C 90a Air Purifier

Friedrich C-90A Air Purifier Products

A Friedrich C-90A Electronic Air Cleaner is your family's first line of defense. This is not a hokey device.
Weaknesses: Large. Not quiet at high speed. Expensive.
Honeywell sells deionizing units that insert into the airflow stream of home air-based heating systems. Those units hold two deionizers. The people at Friedrich basicly decided to create a stand-alone deionizing unit that would use one of those rather substantial and proven honeywell deionizers. There is not much else to this unit: a fan to pump air through the deionizer, carbon filters at either end, some electronic controls, and a case. The choice of materials for the case, indicates that this is not a high-volume product, which is hardly surprising given its cost. It appears to work. This unit seems to help.

Yes, it's that good
Summary: 5 Stars
This really is an outstanding air cleaner. It eliminates almost all my allergy symptoms. I've had mine for four years now, and it's as excellent as the day I bought it. I've run it 24/7 the entire time, and even put it on an A/V cart so I can easily move it from room to room occasionally.

I replaced the carbon filter once a couple years ago, but I really don't notice one way or the other on it. A room just doesn't smell any more if you let the cleaner run a while. Even when the carbon filter is depleted, the cleaner still makes a tremendous difference in a room's air.
Customer Review: Great Product, Owners Manual Missing Some Info
Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this product for a bit over a week and it works very well so far. The cleaning directions in the manual aren't nearly as good as they could be. The Honeywell manual for products which use the same air cleaner cell suggests placing several water glasses on your lower rack in order to support the air cell, rather than just dropping it onto the tines. It also says to not use the dry cycle, as it will bake the dirt into the cell.
Customer Review: Very nice Unit
Summary: 5 Stars
Owned this unit for 2 months and has been working Great! Can anyone tell me, if a gameport/USB adapter, like this one (http://www.joy-stick.net/reviews/other/usbadapt.htm), would make it possible to use the R4 Force wheel in winxp? Never mind the FFB, just as a standard Wheel perhaps?
I ask, although i'm affraid I already know the answer, Saitek support would probably have mentioned this sollution, if it were indeed possible...

Anyone?
UKSupport
6th November 2002, 10:02
Indeed - if there was a solution at all then I would have posted it on the support page for the R4 on the website and on here. It needs a driver.

Someone at Saitek once told me that the reason they couldn't make an updated driver was because of a licensing problem. Seems Saitek made the R4 under a license from M$ for the FF technology. Well, it turns out M$ didn't have the right to license Force Feedback technology that wasn't theirs and Immersion sued them over it.

Don't know if that story is true, but thats what I was told when I asked about why there would not be a new driver.
xyr
25th December 2002, 20:55
Sorry, but there is no way to get it running under 2000 or XP.
It turned out that the Saitek wheel has almost the same electronics as the MS one. I've took apart my wheel, examined the PCB and found 3 places for jumpers with only one connected. Interesting, isn't it?
After removing the SMD shortcut on pos. J3, the wheel was recognised as an MS wheel.

Needless to say my wheel works fine since (under win2k).
GTM|Bigchief
25th December 2002, 22:23
Indeed - if there was a solution at all then I would have posted it on the support page for the R4 on the website and on here. I was wondering about that link for ages but my mates wouldn't let me butcher they're microsoft wheel to compare.

But i figured give it a go, got nothing to loose!

Opened it up this morning (note the pcb is under the bonnet of the wheel). Desolder J3 which is the surface mounter link resistor

will look like [000] the triple 000 means zero ohms.

If you don't know how to desolder properly please make sure you get someone who can. Too much heat can and most probably will lift printed tracks from the board!

Once the link is removed. Put it all back together and plug it in. Goto game controllers in winxp and add SideWinder (AutoDetect) and whamo! there she'll be!

Calibrate it and have some fun! Personally I modded it for Need for speed : Hot Pursuit 2 and I'm having a ball!!!

THIS MOD DOES WORK IN WINDOWS XP!

Thanks again!

Rammy
:D
g_funk3
9th January 2003, 23:46
Thanks XYR your the man, I am sure you made a lot of peoples gaming lifes better. And thank you Ramjet for the detailed explanation!

I have been waiting to buy a new computer until the game Racing Legends (www.west-racing.com/news.htm) comes out. But I have been really leary since that also meant I would have to buy a new wheel. I really liked my r4 wheel so much so I bought another one off of ebay when my first one died.

I hope Saitek puts this up somewhere as a solution for the XP problem. I also hope Saitek goes back to making good looking wheels and pedals like the R4.

Has anyone tried different pedals with this wheel, either other brand, or home made??
callahann
21st January 2003, 01:52
THANK YOU XYR
Desmosedici
28th January 2003, 14:41
Thank you xyr!

You made this XP-user happy!
Following your instructions I converted my R4 into a microsoft sidewinder wheel.
In my opinion the microsoft drivers doesn?t provide as good force feedback as the original Saitek drivers did, but thats a minor problem compared to the alternative (wheel not working at all).
I noticed that the sidewinder wheel carries two extra buttons compared to the R4, can anyone figure out if it?s possible to add those to the R4? Maybe the connections exists on the board?

Thanks again!
vantorf
5th February 2003, 08:00
:D THANK YOU, XYR
It works well under XP!!!
Dhauzimmer
5th February 2003, 16:42
I wonder if it's possible to make a minor change to the Microsoft .infs to make them pick up the R4 without needing to make hardware mods. If there's someone out there who's having trouble, but hasn't modded their wheel yet, give me an e-mail and I'll see what I can come up with.

-D
xyr
8th February 2003, 16:32
I'm glad I could help other desperate saitek owners. Problem is it's not me who should have done it.

Dhauzimmer:
I'm afraid modifying the inf files won't help here. The ms driver (msgame.sys) checks the id sent by the wheel and if it is not the value of the ms wheel, it exits.
So if you want a software solution you could
a) Modify the ms driver not to ignore the saitek id. New inf file will also be required for the new device id.
b) Write a filter driver that will change the id but will pass everything else to the ms driver.
Unfortunately I do not posess the required programming skills to do it, that's why I chose the hardware mod. This way you won't need new driver for each new os release, the wheel will work as long as the ms supports it.
Dhauzimmer
8th February 2003, 17:06
I could do either or both. Will download the driver and take a look.

-D
fitterashes
20th February 2003, 13:49
With what should i remove the link en J3 ? i m not very good on electronics.
GTM|Bigchief
20th February 2003, 15:59
use an soldering iron (is this the right word for "l?tkolben"?) or better ask a friend who is better in electronics than u
MRM
4th March 2003, 20:12
I am glad I found this post. He just wants to know if *all* buttons / levers are supported. He told me, that the MS Wheel only has 4 Buttons, and the R4 Wheel has 2 Buttons, the lever behind the wheel and the stick shift lever, which I assume is handled as 2 buttons, too.

Will this modification utilize all buttons in Win XP?
GTM|Bigchief
5th March 2003, 04:39
yes all 6 buttons are useable
MRM
5th March 2003, 15:21
I removed the chip and the wheel works fine. PLEASE!!! I want to play!!!
PunkMonk
18th March 2003, 21:36
Well, i couldn't find a soldering iron anywhere, i guess it's in the Garage somewhere. Anyway, I decided to attack the J3 chip with a pair of Crayola scissors  Which was a stupid mistake. Well, the wheel now works, strangely. I plugged it in expecting it to short circuit and blow a fuse but it didn't... the wheel aligned itself (a sight i haven't seen in about 2 years) and on the screen appeared the "New Hardware Found" thingy. It said it was a 'Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback Wheel' and went ahead installing it, and its working fine. Except now sometimes the wheel randomly aligns to the left or right, not sure if this is because i attacked it with scissors or because my computer is ****e or what. Not really a problem because as soon as I launch the game I want to play the wheel goes right back to the center.

Anyway, so yeah. Thanks for the great mod. I'm quite pleased that I managed to get it working like that :)

P.S. Why do I always end up with about 4 screws leftover?
griemmel
22nd April 2003, 22:37
I have got the r4 racing wheel not the force-wheel and there is no driver for win XP , too. What can I do to calibrate my wheel?
Phantomfighter
28th April 2003, 14:16
I have modded The R4 Racing Wheel successfully, Win XP detects it as the MS Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel and installs it.
But I can only configurate and calibrate the wheel . But no way to test Force Feeback or anything like Configurate the Force Feedback Strenght.

The MS Sidewinder Software would do the trick but the 3.02 works just for Win 95 an win 98

and the Sidewinder software 4.0 is just for USB Controller and not for Gameport (which I have).

(Force Feedback works in Win 98 cause of the Sidewinder Software 3.02)

Is there a possibility how to get Force Feedback to work ?
UKSupport
28th April 2003, 15:59
This was as much support as MS provided for the gameport version of their force wheel in XP. High-Grade FRP method is using hand-laid fiberglass cloth reinforced with plastic resin and was innovative technology at the time for body kit products. It took a much longer time and a lot more man hours making body kit products with this method as workers have to slowly lay the fiberglass cloth evenly than apply resin on top of it for many layers. On the other hand, chopper gun method is a mixture of resin and chop fiber spray both at the same time using a machine which create a much faster time yet creating a thick, sloppy, rough cut edges and uneven surfaces when making smaller products such as body kits. Chopper gun method mostly use in making huge fiberglass products such as boats, bath tubs, water tanks, etc. Now many places in the United States including California regulation does not permit anymore new license as well as banned this chopper gun method manufacturing since it is bad for the ozone. Armitage is the story of a disturbed family with lots of secrets, told from the diary of a demented girl, Margaret, played by Lora Blackwell. She recounts her history with her depressed and desperate mother Eva, played by Danielle Farley, and her apparently evil stepfather Zachary Pendragon, played by Evan Nasky. Her sister, Elaine, played by Hailey Suggs, her brother Johnny, played by Josean Rodriguez, and a poor ragged girl Fay Morgan, played by Kat Schober create another layer of deception and forbidden love to the story. The more minor characters, played by Caitlyn Guerra, Safaa Hansen, Ben Sands, Anthony Schoggins, Halyn Erickson, and Justin Cagle, silently move about the stage, observing the main story and adding depth and interest with stories of their own.

They competed at Zone on Tuesday, March 31st. Congratulations to the Waller High School Box of Stars Theatre students on an outstanding year!

RE: http://www.jacksonvilleprogres...story_099015822.html

It really ticks me off that the Progress does not ever write any serious coverage of the JHS drama team when they put on their One-Act Play for the UIL competition. Anyone who knows anything about it understands that these kids work harder than any sports team in a concentrated period to go up against schools all over the state with their play. These plays are put on mostly with support from parents and the few folks that believe in non-sports-only town recognition as important to the community, as well as the powerful part these events play in the resume of college bound students. Yet.....not a single intelligent word to even name the PLAY the put on, or describe the drama coach, or any of the events. This is what tends to make Jacksonville look like a dead end town of mud racers and football jock parents only. More space in the JDP has been taken up with a fist fight between some stupid kids, than about positive achievements from the good and hard working kids as JHS. This is not only a JDP issue, but one of community complacency as well.

At one time, JHS was the State UIL drama Champion, with BEST ACTRESS in STATE awarded. Now, these kids get the dregs. Why is this?

If you are going to claim that the forum puts the town in a bad light from the postings, then maybe the issue is that the forum points a light directly at some of the town's serious character defects and low class priorities.

JDP...these kids deserve at least as much as the sports teams.

Accord Jdm Headlights

94-97 HONDA ACCORD JDM BLACK HEADLIGHTS
A Pair of JDM Headlights (Left & Right). Here is information on what types of personal information we receive and collect when you use and visit us, and how we safeguard your information. We never sell your personal information to third parties.

Log Files
As with most other websites, we collect and use the data contained in log files. The information in the log files include your IP (internet protocol) address, your ISP (internet service provider, such as AOL or Shaw Cable), the browser you used to visit our site (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox), the time you visited our site and which pages you visited throughout our site.

Cookies and Web Beacons
We do use cookies to store information, such as your personal preferences when you visit our site. This could include only showing you a popup once in your visit, or the ability to login to some of our features, such as forums.

We also use third party advertisements on this site to support our site. Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on our site, which will also send these advertisers (such as Google through the Google AdSense program) information including your IP address, your ISP , the browser you used to visit our site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing New York real estate ads to someone in New York, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing cooking ads to someone who frequents cooking sites).

DoubleClick DART cookies
We also may use DART cookies for ad serving through Google’s DoubleClick, which places a cookie on your computer when you are browsing the web and visit a site using DoubleClick advertising (including some Google AdSense advertisements). This cookie is used to serve ads specific to you and your interests (”interest based targeting”). The ads served will be targeted based on your previous browsing history (For example, if you have been viewing sites about visiting Las Vegas, you may see Las Vegas hotel advertisements when viewing a non-related site, such as on a site about hockey). DART uses “non personally identifiable information”. It does NOT track personal information about you, such as your name, email address, physical address, telephone number, social security numbers, bank account numbers or credit card numbers. You can opt-out of this ad serving on all sites using this advertising by visiting http://www.doubleclick.com/privacy/dart_adserving.aspx

You can choose to disable or selectively turn off our cookies or third-party cookies in your browser settings, or by managing preferences in programs such as Norton Internet Security. However, this can affect how you are able to interact with our site as well as other websites. This could include the inability to login to services or programs, such as logging into forums or accounts.

Deleting cookies does not mean you are permanently opted out of any advertising program. Unless you have settings that disallow cookies, the next time you visit a site running the advertisements, a new cookie will be added.

AdSense Privacy Policy Provided by JenSense
